Imagine we’re sitting in a cozy Amsterdam cafe.
The kind with mismatched vintage chairs, lots of dark wood, a cat curled up in the corner, and a gentleman flipping through the pages of today’s Het Parool.
The appletaart is lekker here, so pull up a chair, enjoy it with a coffee, and let’s get to know each other.
What’s your story?
Well, I grew up in a suburb of New Amsterdam and started my marketing career at an ad agency in Manhattan before moving to Washington DC.
Working my way up the corporate ladder, I was always in some kind of marketing role, and always in a state of perpetual burnout. By my late thirties, I reached a point where I started to question it all… a profound midlife awakening.
(Oh, you too? Heh.)
What happened next was…
a year-long backpacking trip around the world
a three-month road trip across the U.S.
a decision to move to Amsterdam
another marketing job, and another burnout
before finally feeling the push to do what I was ready in my heart and mind to do – start my own business.
